It is nearly bathing suit season again, so it is time to start thinking about and shopping for a new swimsuit to carry you through the warmer months. This year, while you’re shopping, take the extra time to consider the tankini, whether you usually head straight for the one piece swimsuits or right for the bikini rack.
The tankini is a sexy alternative to the bikini that works well on all body shapes and sizes. The tankini is a modified version of the bikini – a two piece swimsuit with a top that is longer, more like a tank top. Women with larger figures that tend to shy away from the bikini will find that the tankini is a great compromise that often looks better than that standard one piece. They look equally cute and sassy on women with smaller frames.
All women that enjoy beach sports like volleyball, water skiing or surfing will appreciate the way the tankini offers more coverage, minimizing the risk that you might fall out of the suit as you would with a bikini, allowing you to be more comfortable and free in your movements without having to constantly worry and adjust your bikini top. The “more coverage” factor also works well for any women that don’t like to show a lot of skin in a more revealing bikini but don’t want to be stuck with the same old one piece bathing suit all the time.
Tankinis are becoming more and more popular, so you will be able to find a ton of different colors, prints, patterns and styles when you’re out shopping. Be sure to choose a suit in a color that flatters your skintone. The style of the bottoms comes in several different cuts, like boyshorts or a more standard bikini bottom shape. If you have wider hips, steer away from the boyshorts option or it will make your hips look even wider. On the other hand, if you have a narrow shape and want to add some curves, the boyshorts bottoms will definitely help you do that.
So next time you are out shopping for a new bathing suit, grab a few tankinis off of the rack and try them on. Regardless of your shape and size, you will be pleasantly surprised by the results!
